Spin the wheel and rock the fork. A tread that is worn flat, chunked or cracked on a fork that still swivels cleanly only needs a wheel: pull the 5/16 in axle, drop in the new wheel and use a new lock nut. If the swivel grinds, the fork is bent or the stem is loose in the frame, replace the complete caster.
The WC2054LD polyurethane tread is the harder, longer wearing choice for sealed concrete and parking lots. The soft gray rubber SuperWheel and the TPR casters give a quieter, more cushioned roll on tile, at the same 250 lb rating or a little less (200 lb on the soft rubber casters).
A cart takes four wheels, so a 50-pack covers 12 carts with two spares, a 250-pack covers 62 carts and a 1,000-pack covers 250. Many stores replace only the two front swivel positions first, since those take the curb hits.
