Red Ductile Steel Wheels / Metal Wheels
4" thru 12" wheels - up to 20,000 lbs
CasterHQ's Steel Wheels are fully metal wheels. Steel wheels are better for medium to heavy duty applications if used on smooth concrete floors and applications where they do not take any type of overloading, impacts, or abuse. On floors such as untreated concrete these wheels may cause the floors to decline and chip over time. Steel wheels are not meant to be used in applications with impact, shock, poor floors, floor obstacles or debris, overload, abuse, or any type of use with a automated powered towing system. Different types of steel offer different capacities and benefits. The Gray Iron Semi Steel Wheels are more economical on the wallet but are also a lesser material when compared to the Red Ductile Steel Wheels. Ductile Steel Wheels offer a PSI Tensile Strength of 45,000 PSI. The Gray iron Steel Wheels only offer 30,000 PSI Strength. Meaning the Red Ductile Steel wheel may outlast the Gray Iron causing you to spend more money over time on replacements if the Gray Iron wheels are used in the same application.
Gray Iron Wheels: More Affordable, Less Capacity, More Brittle, Less Money than Ductile Steel Wheels
- Tensile strength of 30,000 PSI
- Temperature range: -45° F to 600°
Red Ductile Steel Wheels: Higher Capacity / Tensile Strength, Double Walled, Stronger, More Money than Gray Iron Wheels
